On October 25, the 13th World Swine Industry Expo and Leman China Swine Conference commenced in Chengdu, China. On the first day of the expo, a high-profile event, the establishment conference of the China-ASEAN Pork Industry Innovation Alliance, was held concurrently. The event attracted representatives from leading enterprises, scientific research institutions, educational institutions and industry associations from China and ASEAN countries to discuss innovative development and international cooperation in the pork industry. Liang Jihao, the former Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stated in his speech that the cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the field of animal husbandry holds broad prospects and significant potential. He emphasized that the establishment of the China-ASEAN Pork Industry Innovation Alliance would offer a more robust platform and stronger assurance for bilateral cooperation.

Experts and scholars from universities and enterprises in the ASEAN region, including Nong Lam University, Hochiminh city in Vietnam, Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, Greenfeed Group in Vietnam, and Charoen Pokphand Group, along with scholars from Sun Yat-sen University, China Agricultural University, and Guangxi University, conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the current situation, challenges and development trends of the pig industry in their respective countries. These exchanges further enhanced mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future in-depth cooperation.

At the meeting, the launch ceremony of the China-ASEAN Pork Industry Innovation Alliance was held. Amid warm applause, the guests witnessed the formal establishment of the alliance, marking a new stage of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the pork industry. This also indicates that both sides will engage in closer cooperation and exchanges in this field. They will jointly promote innovation, upgrading, and sustainable development for the regional pig industry. At the founding meeting, an awarding ceremony for the alliance initiators was also held. These initiating units span various fields such as enterprise, education and research. They will serve as the backbone of the alliance, jointly promoting its development and various initiatives.

The China-ASEAN Pork Industry Innovation Alliance is reported to be a non-profit, non-governmental organization voluntarily established by enterprises, educational institutions, research institutions, and industry associations related to the pork industry in China and ASEAN countries within the framework of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. The alliance aims to integrate the capital, technology, talent and market resources of China and ASEAN countries to foster innovation and upgrade the regional pig industry. It also seeks to strengthen international cooperation and exchanges to achieve high-quality development of the China-ASEAN pig industry. The Alliance's secretariat is located at Guangxi University.
